The Hay Show
February 9th, starts at 12:00
It's almost February and time once again to get ready for the Hay show!
Taking place every year on the second Sunday of February this is a chance to bring a bale of your best hay and/or silage to The Gate Pub and go head to head with the best of Northumberland in a bid to win the much coveted 'Challenge Cup' for the best bale.
There are prizes and rosettes in all categories so please bring your best bale; small or large - round or square, seed hay or meadow. The more categories you enter the more likely it is you'll win a prize. All bales are auctioned off after the competition.
Judging begins at 12 noon so please have your bales on site well before that. Noon marks the official opening of the show heralded by the Rothbury Highland Pipe Band.
The pledge auction will follow the hay auction (starting between 1.30 and 2pm) so please come prepared to take home some fabulous items and service pledges kindly donated by local businesses and residents.
There will also be a 'guess the weight of the sheep' competition - it's a cake - with the closest guess winning the cake.
A tombola will run from 10am until the pledge auction starts, with some great prizes, especially for younger visitors.
The Out of town Museum will be there too with fun games and interesting facts about Coquetdale; its people, history, culture and language.
The Gate Pub will also be serving delicious food as well as drinks
All proceeds from the auctions will go to good causes helping children, families and young people in the area.
So come and help us celebrate the fruits of last summer's forage, the generosity of Northumberland folk and the welcome return of longer days..
